Silver Lake Resort in Nevada’s Clark County has just become the first resort in the state to open its doors in more than 100 years, according to a new report.
The resort opened its doors on Sunday.
The resort is operated by Silver Lake’s namesake resort operator, Silver Lake Resorts.
The Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing in Silver Lake on Tuesday about the new resort’s progress and the future of the Silver Lake area.
The state has been working on an expansion of Silver Lake since the 1970s, but the resort has never had the same amenities as others in the resort area, said Paul Hester, the Nevada Tourism and Economic Development Agency director.
The development has been a challenge, but it has been done, he said.
The state hopes to open Silver Lake in 2019.
The hotel will have more than 30,000 square feet of room, plus more than 400 bathrooms.
It also has a fully enclosed pool and spa, which will be part of a larger development.
Hester said the hotel is designed to create jobs in the area.
Silver Lake is a destination for retirees and families, who come for a day or night in the pool, he added.
“We want to be able to provide a safe and comfortable environment for people who need to come in,” Hester said.
Haster said he has no plans to open any other resorts in the Silver Canyon Valley.
